Peppers and PH

I love bell pepeprs. I love them so much that they used to be the face of Nutrition for the Naive. And they are a super food too, full of every kind of goodness your body needs and thrives on.

Any brightly colored vegetable is going to be some of the most nutrient dense food you can eat. Peppers are full of antioxidants which fight free-radicals (that cause cancer) and they also protect your heart with their high levels of B6 and folic acid. In fact, there isn’t one aspect of you that wont benefit from brightly colored bell peppers- your eyes, your lungs, your skin… they all get a boost from the nutrients in peppers. Plus they’re so attractive, which makes them fun to eat and add to things.

But there’s one problem. If you have a bell pepper for lunch, you’ll likely be tasting it for the rest of the afternoon, thanks to the bell pepper burps. Why does this happen? Peppers are an alkalizing food, which is excellent because it helps balance out too much stomach acid that many of us have. However, whenever there is even a slight PH imbalance in your stomach, you burp. But hey, a small price to pay for such a super-star.

Pick a pack of peppers.
