Celebration and the 80/20 rule

Last night Zach and I went out for dinner to celebrate his awesome domination of the world wide web. He has 2 websites that are #1 in Google (Dividend Stocks Online and Cheap Wine Finder). In case you don’t know what a big deal that is, lets just say that being #1 in Google is comparable to running a 5 minute mile. Totally do-able but takes a lot of good training, hard work, and as some might say, hustle.

So since it was 68 and sunny last night, we went to one of our favorite restos, Clydes, and sat on the patio. I was perusing the menu and thought about the menu options. Normally, I might order a salad. I love salads, they are healthy (if you don’t pile on the bacon, cheese, or dressing) and usually hit the spot for me. But last night, I didn’t want vegetables. I wanted cheese, and bacon, and french fries. GASP! Yep, I’m just gonna be honest here. Nutritionista eats the junk food too! And better than that, I ate my entire cheesy bacon chicken sandwich, french fries too, and I didn’t have an inkling of regret. Why? Because most days, I am eating fruit, salads, and whole grains.

Enter the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time, eat heart healthy food, like vegetables, lean protein, whole grains, so that the other 20% of the time, like special occasions when Google tells you that your boyfriend is a rock star, you just eat the whole plate of french fries and celebrate your little night away without feeling bad or worrying about getting a muffin top.

Being number one rocks. Celebrate!
