We’re not cows, we don’t eat grass. We’re humans, we drink it. No really, have you ever had a cup of green tea? If you’re like most normal people (or maybe just like me), you probably find green tea grassy and unappealing. But you might just want to add some honey and ice and suck it up (literally) and drink it anyways. It’s a miracle waiting to happen.
Among all the copious benefits you’ll achieve by drinking green tea, decreased abdominal fat is one of the best. In a blind study where participants were given an exercise regimen, similar diets and either a beverage with catechins (active compound in Green Tea) or a control beverage without catechins but with the same amount of caffeine, those who drank the beverage with catechins lost more total body weight and more fat from their abdominal region. That’s good news for the inner tube and apples out there who face higher heart disease risk because of where they store fat.
Why this remarkable result? Catechins are a type of antioxidant shown to play a role in reducing the risk of diseases like Alzheimer’s, breast cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
So just grin and shoot it down… unless you really like it (weirdo), in which case you can enjoy a cup every day. On the plus side, all kinds of things are made with green tea these days, from ice cream to muffins, to frappuccinos. Just remember, you wont be doing yourself any health favors eating green tea ice cream. You’ll just feel better eating 2 bowls.
Go green for your health.
